The first appearance of teddy bears was made in a fairytale "Goldilocks and Three Bears" written by Robert Southey, in the year 1834.

The first ever-animated cartoon based on stuffed bears was "Little Johnny and the Teddy Bears" and it was featured in United States.
The 100th anniversary of plush bears was celebrated in 2002.
Common bear brands, which have an impact on the production and selling of stuffed bears include Gund and Russ Berrie.
Some of the characters of stuffed animals include Winnie-the-Pooh, Rupert bear and Sooty. Several books have also been written for children on these characters.
