Losing Weight - Not Taking the Decision


What's the greatest barrier to losing weight? Yes, you've got it in one! Not taking the decision to do something about it. When it comes to losing weight, we are past masters at putting off the decision. We can find any excuse to avoid confronting the one thing we know we must address. What's the main reason for our reluctance to lose weight? Is it that we can't be bothered to make the effort? Does life just get in the way? Will it upset our way of life? Will we be embarrassed in front of our friends? Or have we been on diets before, gone through all the pain only for the weight to come back again? Probably all these excuses have been used, but the one that really stands out is the previous diet experience.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a diet, but what you have to realize is that a diet only delivers short-term weight loss. Diets are not designed to deliver permanent weight loss. Permanent weight loss comes from making change and learning new habits. If you want to lose weight permanently (and who doesn't!) then you have to take a different approach to losing weight. If you don't change what you do now and just carry on in the same old way, how do you ever expect to lose weight and keep it off?

The process of achieving permanent weight loss doesn't have to be something to dread or to put off. It should be something to embrace and go for with enthusiasm. Just think of your life free from diets. Just think of a slim 'new you' and the fun and freedom you could enjoy. They're great thoughts, aren't they? Learn new slim habits and you'll be able to change your life - forever. All you have to do is to stop putting off the decision.
